Fisker Benefits From Federal Cash Boost

California electric car company Fisker received $528.7 million in federal loans in September from the U.S. Energy Department. Some of the cash will go towards bringing the long-awaited hybrid Karma luxury sedan to market, but the lion’s share of the funding is targeted at a family-oriented gasoline / electric model called Project Nina.
The plug-in hybrid, expected to retail for around $39,000, is scheduled for release in 2012. Fisker plans to sell in the neighborhood of 100,000 Project Nina units per year. More…
