Audi Brings “A” Game to Frankfurt Auto Show
It’s not often that an electric car blows away expectations when it comes to performance, but Audi rewrote the rule book at the Frankfurt Auto Show with their e-tron concept. This dashing all-wheel drive sports car, based largely on the look of their successful R8 high performance vehicle, makes use of four electric motors to provide a stunning - wait for it - 3,319 lb-ft of torque. This is on top of 313 horsepower. The vehicle’s radical front end-styling and razor-thin grill bars add to the exotic feel of the already impressive e-tron package.
One third of the concept car’s mass is taken up by its battery, which weighs in at 1,036 lbs. Will the e-tron ever make it into production? Given to cost of replacing such an enormous battery pack, it seems unlikely, but it never hurts to dream. More…
